iSynergy – Looking Back Over the Past 10 Years

It’s been a long, winding road since 2008, when iSynergy began as an IT company. We’ve had some good years – we’ve had some GREAT years – and we’ve had some hard times. But, I’m a firm believer that we learn what we’re made of (AND what we’re CAPABLE of) during those hard times.

Over the years, I’ve come to realize that great work environments typically share several common characteristics. However, I believe that iSynergy (our small but mighty digital advertising agency) embodies a few unique traits that help us stand out from the crowd…

  1. We require a “permanent beta” mentality.
  2. We desire to be the best.
  3. We do what’s right.

Our culture is top of mind – when hiring, when bringing in new clients (aka partners), when expanding – always. Why? Because our partners and our people need to fit our culture or else the relationship just won’t last.

We don’t work FOR jerks and we don’t work WITH jerks. We hire for personality (the drive, the passion and the inquisitive mind) and we want partners who are willing to push beyond their norms.

Permanent Beta Mentality
If you haven’t read Reid Hoffman’s book, The Start-Up of You, you should. Who is Hoffman? Only the founder of a little platform known as LinkedIn. There are several good nuggets of wisdom in this book, but one in particular really stood out to us – the idea of being in a state of “permanent beta.”

For those of you not living in the tech world, the term “beta” refers to the final stage of software development where a product is tested (continuously) to provide feedback and make room for improvement.

Always evolving. Never fully developed. Providing continual opportunity for growth.

Our industry is moving so fast that even when something (an idea, a concept, a pitch) is perfect today, tomorrow it can be improved. Our process is what makes us different. We are constantly getting focused (and re-focused), and we are challenging the status quo on a daily basis.

Desire To Be the Best
Desire to be the best is not about being self-centered. It’s about being driven – having a focus – and taking responsibility for yourself and the success you want to achieve.

This applies to both potential clients and employees, alike.

Our clients are our partners, because, ultimately, our success is directly related to their success. We don’t look for measurables like verticals, geography or yearly sales when taking on someone new. We look for partners who are progressive, open to innovative ideas and driven to be leaders within their respective markets.

Our internal culture is the same way. We don’t hire jerks. We want people who are inquisitive by nature, POSITIVE, creative and team-oriented. These important attributes create unity and keep people working toward something bigger than themselves.

iSynergy has come a long way in the past decade:
2008 – Provided IT services
2010 – Added website design, copywriting and email marketing
2011 – Started focusing on inbound strategies (became Hubspot certified) and incorporated graphic design and creative strategy
2012 – Began offering social media management services
2014 – Developed SEO and programmatic campaign strategies
2015 – Became an official Google Partner
2017 – Offered multimedia production in-house
2019 – Continued our streak of awesomeness

But, that streak of awesomeness wasn’t achieved in a vacuum. It happened because we have partners and employees who strive to be the best of the best day in and day out.

We Do What’s Right
If you’re not aware, there’s this thing called karma, and it’s a force to be reckoned with. Essentially, it all boils down to cause and effect. Do good, get good. Do bad, get worse.

We’re here to make money, sure. But, it’s iSynergy’s belief that if we do what’s right (aka in the CLIENT’S best interest), that good juju will trickle down to us in the form of long-lasting relationships, referrals and (ultimately) the bottom line.

We use multiple outlets because we adapt to what’s best for our wide variety of clients. We’re not a reseller of platforms, because it’s not our job to push a product on a business. Instead, we want what works best for that business.

iSynergy isn’t an R&D firm, either – we don’t develop new technology. But, if the technology exists, we know about it and are leveraging it for our clients’/partners’ best interests.
